There is a fold-out map of medieval India at the front, and two fold-out maps, of India in 1947 and again in 1956, all pristine. The first few pages are a bit creased, due to shelfwear, but the book shows no signs of having been read. there occurred a shift to a new terminology of Ancient-Medieval-Modern periods. The copy in hand is the thrid printing of the second printing of the second edition, with corrections, if you can follow that.
